Wound-Associated Conditions

Cellulitis

Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the skin and underlying tissues. It's typically caused by bacteria entering through a break in the skin, such as a cut, scrape, or insect bite.

The affected area becomes red, swollen, painful, and warm to the touch.

If left untreated, cellulitis can spread to deeper tissues and even the bloodstream, leading to serious complications

Osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is a serious infection of the bone, often caused by bacteria, that can lead to inflammation and potentially permanent bone damage if left untreated.

It can spread through the bloodstream, from nearby infected tissue, or from open wounds.

Symptoms include fever, bone pain, swelling, and in some cases, skin discoloration.

Amputation

Amputation is the surgical removal of all or part of a limb or extremity, such as a leg, arm, foot, hand, toe, or finger.

It's often performed to treat serious injuries, diseases, infections, or to remove tumors that have spread to a limb.

Post-Trauma

Post-traumatic wounds are injuries resulting from physical trauma, ranging from minor cuts to severe lacerations or crush injuries.

They require medical attention to clean, close, and promote healing to prevent infection and facilitate tissue repair.

Treatment options include wound cleaning, surgical debridement, closing with sutures, skin grafts, or allowing the wound to heal by secondary intention.

Burns

A burn wound is tissue damage caused by exposure to heat, chemicals, radiation, or electricity.

The severity of a burn wound can range from minor discomfort to a life-threatening emergency, depending on the depth and size of the burn.
